The Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) organized an economic mission focused on the energy sector in the United Arab Emirates from January 16 to 18, 2023. CE+T Power had the opportunity to participate and meet key players in the sector.
Energy sector in UAE
The energy sector is at the heart of the concerns globally. It is also the case for the United Arab Emirates where there are a lot of opportunities.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the world’s largest oil and natural gas producers, and energy plays a vital role in the country’s economy. However, the UAE has also been working to diversify its energy mix and develop renewable energy sources.
In recent years, the UAE has made significant strides in developing renewable energy sources, particularly solar power. The country has set a target to generate 50% of its energy from clean sources by 2050, and it is home to the world’s largest single-site solar power plant, the Noor Abu Dhabi Solar Plant.
Overall, the energy sector in the UAE is a significant contributor to the country’s economy, and the UAE is working to balance its traditional strengths in oil and gas with a growing focus on renewable and low-carbon energy sources.
UAE Energy Strategy 2050
The Emirates wish to achieve two major objectives:
- Reduce the carbon footprint of electricity production by 70%
- Increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25 to 50%
The ideal energy mix: 6% nuclear energy, 44% clean energy, 38% gas energy and 12% energy from clean coal. The Emirate of Dubai has even greater ambition – to increase the proportion of renewable energy use in its energy mix and decrease its percentage of natural gas.
Economic mission
The Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) organized an economic mission focused on the energy sector in the United Arab Emirates mid of January 2023.
Organized just after IRENA’s General Assembly and during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, this mission benefits from a favorable context for meeting the major players in the sector, in addition to the presence of official representatives such as the Walloon Minister of Energy, Philippe Henry.
The mission aimed to promote business opportunities and facilitate trade and investment between Walloon (a region in Belgium) companies and the UAE in the energy sector, particularly in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and smart grid technologies.
Overall, the AWEX economic mission to the UAE demonstrates the growing interest and potential for collaboration between Walloon companies and the UAE in the energy sector, particularly in the area of clean energy.
CE+T Power in UAE
As a company that already has an office in Dubai, our participation in the AWEX economic mission to the UAE’s energy sector was a natural step towards building and expanding our presence in the country. The mission offered an opportunity for CE+T Power’s representatives, including our CEO, sales manager, and business developer, to network with potential partners and customers in the UAE market, while also gaining insights into the country’s energy sector.
Participating in the mission also allowed us to showcase our expertise and present CE+T Power’s products in power electronics and energy conversion solutions to a wider audience. This helped us to raise awareness of CE+T Power’s brand and capabilities.
Overall, our participation in the AWEX economic mission to the UAE’s energy sector, combined with our existing office in Dubai, demonstrates our company’s commitment to the UAE market and its desire to contribute to the country’s energy transition goals.
